It’s still the beginning of the year, and if you want, you can lose a minimum of 100lbs! Assuming you don’t want to lose that much (or you do), there is plenty of time for you to get started and conquer your weight loss goals. However, the best time to start your fitness plan, weight loss journey and healthier lifestyle is today! There are several simple habits that will aid you in shredding fat. But, from one weight loss champ to another, I’m going to give it to you straight.
STOP PLANNING, JUST DO IT!
Yes, it’s great to be prepared. I’ve done it all! Marking the water bottle, buying the best scales, tracking my body fat, monitoring what goes in my mouth, getting a minimum of nine hours of sleep, connecting with accountability partners, parking and walking, buying smaller swimsuits, going vegetarian and recently vegan. I know for a fact that you can have all your ducks in a row and still set yourself up for failure. You want to be hardcore, you have to commit. But for those of you who can’t, just do it! Make one or two goals and stick to them. For example, “I’m going to workout for 30 minutes every day, regardless.” Or, “No more eating food with little to zero nutritional value.” Or, “I promise to replace all of my beverages with water.” Or, here’s a big one, “I’ll replace all of my bread and starch options with a colorful salad.” It’s the little changes that you absolutely have to do.
DON’T TALK ABOUT IT!
It’s nice for dear family and friends to hold you accountable, but not all of them are a great source of motivation. Your family and friends will be the first to judge you. You’re not fat to me. How skinny are you trying to get? As much as you love to eat, it will be impossible for you to lose weight. Why are you eating that? Come on, you can have just a little bit! You need to treat yourself. From experience, the same people you tell your weight loss goals to, are the same individuals who will let you purchase a fatty meal. Next thing you know, you’ll be out indulging in sugary drinks and craving more chips, salsa and French fries. You losing weight is your business, and unless your family and friends are in the field of HIIT training, keep your fat to yourself.
There is much to learn about weight gain, fat, body analysis, bread, dairy and the like. Fuel yourself with healthy knowledge and let your ambition take over. I can’t state how many times I was inspired to stop eating, work out and live healthier by the words I read. Some great books are, Fat Flush Plan, Fat Smash Diet, Wheat Belly, and The Modern Savage: Our Unthinking Decision to Eat Animals. Encourage yourself to educate yourself.
LET LOVE BE YOUR GUIDE!
Wanting to lose weight and become the fittest you’ve ever been should be done out of love. Lose weight because you love your body. Get fit because you love yourself. Gaining weight and staying fat or obese is a pure reflection of how much disrespect you will allow. If you want others to appreciate you, be the example and quit taking your body and your life for granted. Show yourself how much love you can treat yourself with quality foods, fun workouts and healthier lifestyle decisions. I promise you, your perspective and confidence will rise and widen.
